Blue-throated Macaws
in Bolivia
The Blue-throated Macaw is a critically endangered macaw found only in Bolivia. Once thought to be extinct, it was rediscovered in late 1970s and 80s – a near-victim to the trade in wild-caught birds. The species’ wild population remains precariously low – less than 200 individuals remain. With the generous and timely support of BOSS Orange, essential conservation and fieldwork is continuing to save this species struggling for survival.

Scarlet Macaws
in Honduras
Once kept as pets by the ancient Mayans over 2000 years ago, the Scarlet Macaw is extinct in many areas of its former range. Because of the important support of BOSS Orange, the World Parrot Trust and its partners created a release facility at a national park and Mayan heritage site in Copan, Honduras. Through this successful effort the birds once again fill the skies, as they did during the times of the ancient Mayan civilization.
