Promoting the World Parrot Trust

I'd like to post a link on my website to the World Parrot Trust? Do I need permission?
We love it when you link to us and help spread the word about our work for saving parrots. You don't need permission, and here is a small collection of banners and logos that you can use. You are welcome to link to our main site or any of the subpages you find there.

Fundraising

We are often asked about fundraising. Here are the answers to some or our most frequently asked questions. Before you begin fundraising on our behalf, please contact us by submitting the WPT Fundraising Proposal and Agreement and we will contact you with more information.

How do I fundraise?
When you complete the fundraising and events form a World Parrot Trust representative will then help you to create a fundraising plan and timeline for your activities. Perhaps your friends and family can help you; it is always more fun to fundraise with a team of supporters. Think about your circle of friends, work colleagues, clubs, associations that you are connected with, and what kind of fundraising events would interest them. You might want to make a personal contribution, as this may be your annual holiday, the choice is yours.

I would like to raise money, but I do not know what to do.
Why not visit our fundraising ideas and suggestions page. Also, if you complete the WPT Fundraising Proposal and Agreement and return to us, we will send you a fundraising pack with more information.

I have a great idea for fundraising, when do I need to contact you?
Please contact us right away, even if you are still in the early stages. Submit the WPT Fundraising Proposal and Agreement and a representative from Trust will contact you.

I would like to try a sponsored activity. Where can I obtain a sponsorship form?
Start by submitting the WPT Fundraising Proposal and Agreement and one of our representatives will get in touch. They will send you the information along with any additional requested materials.

How do I get a fundraising pack?
Enter your details on the WPT Fundraising Proposal and Agreement and we will send you the information.

Do you provide speakers for clubs?
We do attend many clubs, meetings and regional conferences and are happy to talk about the World Parrot Trust. Please email us and let us know whether you will be fundraising or raising awareness.

I want to help but I do not get out much and do not have much time. What can I do?
Why not keep a World Parrot Trust collecting tin to store your loose change? Every little bit helps.

Do you have collecting tins?
Yes and we can send them to you if you let us know what you are planning to do. We do not have any street collectors at the present time.

How will people know that I am authorized to fundraise?
Once you have submitted the WPT Fundraising Proposal and Agreement and have given us some brief ideas on how you are going to raise your target, we will issue you with an Authority to Fundraise in the form of a letter.

How do I ensure I'm acting legally?
You will need to check the local laws and regulations for your area as they relate to fundraising activities. When you submit the WPT Fundraising Proposal and Agreement, one of our representatives will contact you to explain further. Some considerations to keep in mind:
  • Please do not collect money door-to-door.
  • Many fundraising activities that involve collecting money or selling goods in a public place require that you seek permission and a license from your local authority.
  • If your event takes place on private property, you must obtain permission from the owner or manager.
  • Small raffles and/or gaming venues are fine as long as they don't contain cash prizes and are part of a larger event. Other raffles may be unlawful, so you must check with us before holding these.
  • If you are supplying food and drink, you are responsible for seeing that it is deemed fit and safe, even if the participants aren't paying for it.

Will I be insured if I run an event?
If you run an event, you must discuss your activity with a WPT representative before you embark on it. If we don't know what you are planning, we can't help to determine if you are covered. Please submit the WPT Fundraising Proposal and Agreement and a representative from the Trust will contact you to help.

What do I do with the money I raise?
If you raise money on behalf for the World Parrot Trust, you must agree to pass the money to the Trust, in full, within a specified period. For example, if you are hosting an event, you need to pay the Trust within 28 days of the date of the activity. A Trust representative can advise you about what to do in the case of each specific fundraising activity after you have submitted the WPT Fundraising Proposal and Agreement.

Please send cheques made payable to World Parrot Trust and submit to your local chapter. Please include details of how the money was raised and gift aid or sponsorship forms and we will send an acknowledgment letter.
