Care in Captivity
Pet Suitability:
Quiet, shy, taking time to become accustomed to people; susceptible to illness in cold, wet conditions. Enjoys large aviary, becomes inactive in small cage. Gregarious in colony with other birds.

Captive Status:
Fairly common

Longevity:
15-20 yrs

Housing:
Walk-in aviary, minimum length 3m (9.8 ft) or if in warm climate outside flight, 3 x 1 x 2m (9.8 x 3.3 x 6.5 ft) with shelter and roosting box.

Enrichment:
Provide chew branches (bird-safe wood only), vegetable tanned leather chew toys, area for bathing, socialization (to overcome shyness), room to fly in large aviary.

Nest Box Size:
9" x 9" x 24" (22.8cm x 22.8cm x 61cm) vertical box.

Clutch Size:
4-5

Incubation Time:
23-24 days

Fledging Age:
7 weeks

Hatch Weight:
5g (0.2 oz)

Peak Weight:
Around 90-95g (3.1-3.3 oz)

Weaning Weight:
85g (3 oz)
