Care in Captivity
Pet Suitability:
Active, inquisitive, quickly becomes accustomed to keeper. Fairly quiet unless alarmed.

Captive Status:
Rare in captivity.

Longevity:
Probably 13-15yrs

Housing:
Aviary or suspended enclosure, minimum length 2m (6.5 ft).

Enrichment:
Enjoys bathing, so provide overhead misters or shallow bathing bowls of water; also needs space, as is avid flier. Also is vigorous chewer, so provide bird-safe, unsprayed flowering, fir, pine and willow branches, wooden toys, vegetable tanned leather toys, heat sterilized pine cones and puzzle/foraging toys.

Nest Box Size:
Vertical box 8" x 8" x 28" (20.3cm x 20.3cm x 71cm).

Clutch Size:
3-8

Incubation Time:
20-24 days for large clutch.

Fledging Age:
6-7 weeks

Hatch Weight:
3-4g (0.1-0.15 oz)
