Care in Captivity
Pet Suitability:
Aratinga conures are, in general, more aggressive towards other birds, but mainly affectionate, peaceful and playful. Moderate to loud voice. New birds shy, but become accustomed to keeper over time.

Rare

Up to 35yrs.

Housing:
Walk-in enclosure or suspended aviary, minimum length 2-3m (6.5-9.8 ft).

Enrichment:
Probably are vigorous chewers so provide plenty of bird-safe, unsprayed flowering, fir, pine, willow, elder or saskatoon branches and perches, wooden block or vegetable tanned leather chew toys; ladders, swings, ropes and play gyms. Also enjoys bathing so provide overhead misters or shallow water bowls.

Diagonal nest box 25cm x 40cm x 30cm (9.75 x 15.6 x 11.7 in).
