Care in Captivity
Pet Suitability:
Feisty and playful. Males may become possessive or aggressive. Has tendency to become obese if in small cage. If kept with a mate ensure cage is large enough, as males will become aggressive to females if in a small cage.

Captive Status:
Quite common

Longevity:
Up to 25yrs.

Housing:
Walk-in enclosure, minimum length 2.1m (7 ft), or indoor aviary minimum length 1.8m (6 ft).

Enrichment:
Swings and ropes; puzzle and foraging toys; bird-safe wooden chew toys and branches (fir, pine, heat-sterilized pine cones). Also like to bathe.

Nest Box Size:
Budgerigar nest box 6" x 6" x 6" (15.2cm x 15.2cm x 15.2cm).

4-6

18 days
