Care in Captivity
Pet Suitability: Active and confiding from the start; tolerates other birds fairly well. Susceptible to internal parasites. Enjoys scratching around on soil surface.

Housing: Walk-in enclosure, minimum length 3m (9.8 ft).
Enrichment: Love to climb, therefore provide ladders, ropes and swings; not a vigorous chewer. Provide large flight for exercise. Provide areas for bathing.

Captive Projects: In the 1970's at Mount Bruce Native Bird Reserve 70 of these birds were captive raised and released onto the islands of Ziri Ziri and Cuvier as an experiment, which proved successful.
