Care in Captivity
Pet Suitability:
Intelligent, active, playful, not as noisy as other species; may become possessive of toys and keepers. Mated pairs will defend their territory vigorously. Too much protein in diet may lead to gout, a type of arthritis in which crystals are deposited in the joints. May be messy due to liquid diet.

Captive Status:
Common in aviculture.

Housing:
Enclosure with sloping concrete floor with drain or pebbles, or suspended cage over concrete base.

Enrichment:
Daily bathing, socialization, exercise toys (ladders and swings that can be cleaned), puzzle and foraging toys.

Vertical box 10" x 10" x 14" (25.4cm x 25.4cm x 35.5cm).
