Care in Captivity
Pet Suitability: Quiet, melodic bird. May be housed with other small parrot and finch species. Not generally susceptible to stress. Will become accustomed to keeper fairly rapidly.
Captive Status: Very common
Longevity: 10-15yrs
Housing: Walk-in enclosure, minimum length 2 to 2.5m (6.5-8.2 ft).
Enrichment: Provide bird-safe, unsprayed flowering, fir, pine or willow branches, swings, ropes and ladders; wooden block or vegetable tanned leather toys, puzzle/foraging toys. Also provide overhead misters or shallow water bowls for bathing.
Nest Box Size: Vertical box 6" x 6" x 12" (15.2cm x 15.2cm x 30.5cm).
Clutch Size: 4-6
Incubation Time: 18-19 days
Fledging Age: 4-5 weeks
Hatch Weight: Probably 3g (0.1 oz), as in Scarlet-chested Parrot

Peak Weight: Probably 34g (1.2 oz) as in Scarlet-chested Parrot
(Neophema splendida)
Weaning Weight: Probably 33g (1.1 oz), as in Scarlet-chested Parrot
