Colourization Adult:
P.r. robustus: both adults have varying plumage; head and neck dull olive/yellow to green/brown, scalloped with darker brown; pink/red frontal band occasionally present in male and usually in female; black back and wings widely margined with dark green; rump and underparts green, tinged with blue; thighs, bend of wing, carpal edge orange/red; tail black/brown. Bill horn in colour. Bare eye ring white. Eye dark brown. P.r. suahelicus: male-head and neck silver/grey, scalloped orange/brown; rump strongly washed with blue. Female-as in male but with pink/red forehead and forecrown, suffused with silver/grey. P.r. fuscicollis: both adults as in suahelicus, but more blue in body plumage, particularly on rump; in female pink/red of forecrown and forehead more extensive.

Colourization Juvenile:
Robustus: head and neck greenish to yellowish/brown, body dark green/olive; male and female fuscicollis and suahelicus have orange forehead until 6-7 months then females regain orange marking at about 9 months; head remains silver in males.

Call: Piercing series of screeches emitted in flight. Softer sounds of contentment while at rest. Voice similar to Meyer's Parrot but more grating. Captive birds mimic human and other sounds.
