Did You Know?
There has historically been much debate on the origin of this species - Forshaw (2006) notes it as a hybrid between the Slaty-headed (P. himalayana) and Plum-headed (P. cyanocephala) Parakeets, whereas Rana et al. makes mention the differences between the hybrid and P. intermedia individuals.

Colourization Adult: Male-in general green; red/pink forehead and area surrounding eyes, rest of head slate/purple; black chin and wide stripe across lower cheeks, reaching as fine stripe around hindneck; variable blue/green collar; maroon mark on inner median wing coverts; blue/green tail tipped with yellow; red upper mandible, yellow lower. Female-maroon mark on inner median wing coverts reduced or absent; minimal red/pink on head.

Colourization Juvenile: Undescribed

Call: Call is high-pitched and screechy. Melodious chatter while feeding or resting.
