As of 2002, the Painted Conure group of approximately 9 subspecies was subdivided into a number of different new species, the Madeira Conure being one of the new ones.

Colourization Adult: Both adults buff/white ear coverts; cream/buff upper breast, with dark brown feather shafts, and lower breast yellow/buff with feather shafts dark green; green bend of wing. Bill dark brown/grey. Eye ring bare and brown with yellow markings. Eye brown.

Colourization Juvenile: Undescribed

Call: Calls are like that of the Painted Conure: in flight coarse and forceful notes.
