The male Purple-bellied Parrot displays by walking jerkily with head lowered, pushing its beak in front of it along the perch. The feathers of the mantle are raised, the tail is spread much like an Amazon, and the male sings while shaking his head quickly, then rubs his bill on the branch. The female shakes her head and sings.
