Status in the Wild
World Population: 2500-10,000
Range: Luzon and Marinduque, N Philippine Islands.
Habitat: Previously from lowland primary forest and nearby maize fields, mostly below 700m (2296 ft).
Threat Summary: Trapping for wild bird trade significant problem; loss of forest habitat through legal and illegal logging. Also habitat modification has accentuated interspecies competition (Blue-crowned Racquet-tailed Parrot).
IUCN Rating: Vulnerable
Wild Diet: Includes fruit, corn, rice, seeds and flowers.
CITES Rating: Appendix II
Ecology: Recently recorded flying over degraded and selectively logged areas. Not much else known about this parrot.
Clutch and Egg Size: Not available
Breeding Season: Young birds seen in May in Luzon.
