The Fuertes parrot was only recently re-discovered after 90 yrs (it was thought to be extinct), with a very restricted range.

Status in the Wild
World Population: 50-250
Range: In Cordillera Central, below Nevado de Santa Isabel, W Colombia.
Habitat: Found in cloud forest rich in epiphytes and tree ferns from 2600-3800m (8528-12,464 ft).
Threat Summary: Possible hybridization with or displacement by the Rusty-faced Parrot
(Hapalopsittaca amazonina); clearance of forest in early 1900's.
IUCN Rating: Critically endangered
Wild Diet: Not well known but may be dependent on mistletoe berries for food.
CITES Rating: Appendix II
Ecology: Habits are little known, but are presumed to be similar to those of the Rusty-faced Parrot.
Clutch and Egg Size: Unknown.
Breeding Season: Unknown.
