Status in the Wild
World Population: About 10,000
Range: E Amazonas and W Para, N Brazil.
Habitat: Found up to 300m (984 ft) in lowland gallery forest bordering waterways, particularly mixed forest on white sand soils.
Threat Summary: This species is known from only two habitat types and a small, restricted area. This area is under threat from logging.
IUCN Rating: Near-threatened
Wild Diet: Feeds on seeds, fruits and possibly wasp larvae from galls.
CITES Rating: Appendix II
Ecology: Seen singly, in pairs or in small flocks of up to 10 birds. Active earlier in the morning than other parrots, and goes to roost earlier. Keeps to upper canopy where well camouflaged.
Clutch and Egg Size: Not available
Breeding Season: Possibly September.
