Its swift, direct flight sometimes gets the Purple-crowned Lorikeet in trouble; these birds have been in numerous collisions with telephone lines or netting fences.

Range: SW Australia and SE mainland Australia.
Habitat: Found up to 600m (1968 ft) in drier woodland and forest, occasionally reaching into urban areas to feed on ornamental flowers.
Threat Summary: There is evidence of a population decline.

Ecology: Is nomadic due to unpredictability of flowering eucalypts. Usually seen in small parties to large flocks of hundreds of individuals. Feeds in lower branches and shrubs. Roosts communally in large groups. at times a long way from feeding areas.
Clutch and Egg Size: 3-4 rounded eggs, 20.5 x 16.5mm (0.8 x 0.6 in).
