Status in the Wild
World Population:
2500-10,000

Range: Seram; may also occur on Ambon, N Moluccas, Indonesia.

Habitat:
Found from 600-1000m (1968-3280 ft) in montane and submontane primary and secondary forest, lowland forest and in cultivated areas.

Threat Summary:
This species is trapped in large numbers for pets in villages on Seram and other islands. Is also threatened by habitat degradation and deforestation. Oil drilling, timber extraction and hydroelectric projects put further pressures on its range.

IUCN Rating:
Vulnerable

Wild Diet:
Feeds on fruits.

CITES Rating:
Appendix II

Ecology:
Seen in pairs, rarely in groups, and may be territorial. Stays mainly in upper branches of tall trees. Quiet and shy while feeding and resting.

Clutch and Egg Size:
2 elliptical eggs, 31.5 x 25.0mm (1.2 x 1.0 in).
