Range:
E.b. bornea: Ambon, Saparua, and Haruku, S Moluccas.
E.b. rothschildi: Seram, S Moluccas.
E.b. cyanonothus: Buru, S Moluccas.
E.b. bernsteini: Kai Islands.


Habitat:
Found up to 1250m (4100 ft) in plantations near villages, secondary growth, mangroves and humid primary forest.

Threat Summary:
Commonly traded in international bird trade.

IUCN Rating:
Least concern

Wild Diet:
Feeds on nectar, flowers and insects.

CITES Rating:
Appendix II

Ecology:
Are noisy and conspicuous; found in large gatherings. High-flying groups will sometimes travel across the ocean between islands. Population fluctuations are linked to the availability of flowering trees. Some nocturnal (night) activities seen.

Clutch and Egg Size:
2 rounded eggs, 30.0 x 24.5mm (1.2 x 0.9 in).

Breeding Season:
Probably August, with young seen in December.
