World Population: 1000-4000
Range: Restricted to Philippines where once common, now on Palawan and associated islands, Tawitawi, Mindanao and Masbate.
Habitat: Found in lowland primary or secondary forests and mangrove; some cultivated areas.
Threat Summary: On Palawan trapping heavy; elsewhere deforestation and mangrove destruction. Also hunted as a crop pest and for food. Also possibly declined because of outbreak of psittacine beak and feather disease (PBFD).
IUCN Rating: Critically endangered
Wild Diet: Feed on seeds, fruit, nuts and berries.
CITES Rating: Appendix I
Ecology: Noisy and fairly conspicuous, gather in groups to feed. Also noisy when gathering to roost. Form larger groups outside breeding season. Said to escape winged predators by rapid, precise flying techniques.
Clutch and Egg Size: 2 to 3 elliptical eggs, 38.0 x 26.5 mm (1.5 x 1 in).
