Status in the Wild
World Population:
Thought to be above 1,000,000.

Range: SW India (peninsula) and up east coast to W Bengal and NE India, Bangladesh, to S China, and Indochina to Thailand. Also Andaman Islands and Mergui Archipelago.

Habitat:
Found up to 1800m (5904 ft). Occurs in a variety of areas such as evergreen and deciduous forest, forest edge, clearings, secondary growth forest, brush, bamboo thickets, orchards and overgrown cultivated areas.

Threat Summary:
None so far.

IUCN Rating:
Least concern

Wild Diet:
Feed on nectar of coral trees, and in fruiting trees such as figs or guava; also berries and seeds.

CITES Rating:
Appendix II

Ecology:
Not visually conspicuous, but not shy either; feeding is in canopy and very acrobatic in nature. Found in pairs, family parties or small flocks. Easily approached.

Clutch and Egg Size:
3 to 4 broadly ovate eggs, 19.0 x 16.0mm (0.7 x 0.6 in).

Breeding Season:
January-April
