Hi All,

As my postman nearly breaks his back at this time of the year, schleping mountains of Christmastime catalogs to every house in the neighborhood, I was delighted to learn recently about these guys at http://www.catalogchoice.org/ 

They make it REALLY easy to get off these lists and stem the flow of dead trees into our mailboxes.  It really only takes a minute to get signed in, then you can quickly go through and click on all those company names and opt out of their catalog offerings.

Why it takes our government so long to solve things like email spam, telemarketing, and unrequested catalogs is anyones guess and an entirely separate issue ... but this is easy and even a little bit fun to have the chance to put a stop to the avalanche in the mailbox.

Every year on Christmas Eve we go out to the thirty foot evergreen trees down on the road and choose a really nice long, full , upper branch to cut off and mount in our stand for the holiday season.  It smells so nice and does not endanger the tree and after we have enjoyed it for two weeks, the parrots get to chew it to smithereens. Happy New Year everyone.    

Christmas is fast approaching. This call to save trees this Christmas is once again very timely.
