Thanks for thinking of me and my company Alison.
Unfortunately most of the areas where you can see Greys in the wild tend to be in countries that are either in civil war or very near to those areas and as I would not want to put my customers in any type of risk then I do not intend to go to Africa to see Greys just yet. If anyone knows differently then I will be grateful for any ideas as I have a number of customers wanting to see the greys in the wild.
The trip I am planning for 2012 would be further south. The other important issue is that although there are a number of Parrots in Africa the different species are so far apart that a 3 week trip will only probably end up seeing about 8 or 9 Parrots which includes lovebirds so I am hoping there will be enough people as enthusiastic as myself to be able to go ahead with this trip.
In comparison it is fairly easy to be able to see about 20 or more parrots in South America on a 2 week trip as long as you know where to look.
So I suppose in answer to the question ‘Is it possible to watch african greys in the wild?’ - then Yes is the short answer but do a lot of research before you go not just where to see the greys but check on the political problems in the country.
If you would like to send me your email address I can always keep you up to date with any new information about seeing greys.
Hope this helps.
Can I tempt you with going to see other parrots in the wild - check out my website.
