Red-faced Parrot

1990 - current

Due to habitat fragmentation and destruction through slash-and-burn logging practices the Red-faced Parrot's population numbers only in the few thousand. This little-known parrot is listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.

The WPT has supported research that has revealed that the range for this species is wider than previously thought. This critical work also underlined the importance of Podocarpus National Park for other threatened species, such as the White-breasted Conure (Pyrrhura albipectus).
