The Red-vented or Philippine Cockatoo is a small white corella which is classified as critically endangered, that is, its numbers are so low that the species is in serious danger of becoming extinct very soon. The reason for its rapid decline has to do with the serious deforestation of its lowland habitat. Trapping for the wild bird trade has also had its effects.
The WPT has previously assisted EEP (European Endangered Species Programme) Coordinator Marc Boussekey's crucial work in the Philippines by providing much needed funds for flights to and from Palawan.
