Thick-billed Parrot Research

The Thick-billed Parrot has been affected by the extensive modification of its old growth forest habitat. By 1994 there was wide-ranging infiltration of this species' habitat by loggers, drug growers and large herds of cattle. To some extent capture for the pet trade has had an effect as well. WPT has funded studies to evaluate the long-term effects of translocation and habitat requirements for the Thick-billed Parrot and supported and participated in recovery meetings.
