Release successes

Andre Saidenberg | Dec 12, 2009

Just a quick update about some of the release efforts by Bichos da Mata. These are old news actually but I wanted to share with you providing some background of what has been done before we continue with the news from the latest releases carried out in October.

The group of seriously endangered red browed amazons (Amazona rhodocorytha) were released on January of this year. Accordingly to Soraya Lysenko the director of Bichos da Mata most birds are doing great this far, wonderful news for such an endangered species.

This first effort with the red browed was carried out by Bichos da Mata, IBAMA and Vale steelworks company.

With the new partnership and the WPT Fly Free campaign we also plan to work with this and other endangered Amazona species (A. vinacea and A. brasiliensis) supporting additional releases in the near future.
