Michelle Kooistra has been a bird lover all her life, so falling in step with the work of the World Parrot Trust was a natural fit. Michelle's journey through the bird world has included sharing her home with numerous cockatiels, budgies, and the occasional dove. She started volunteering with the WPT in 2002, handling the membership and other administrative tasks for the Canadian branch.

With her background in business, marketing and web design, Michelle has over the years been able to expand her areas of contribution within the organisation, which have included developing and maintaining the parrots.org and other related project websites, coordinating online efforts, overseeing fundraising campaigns, and designing the WPT membership publication PsittaScene and other print materials.
