Save parrots with a bequest

Legal Designation

Estate planning can be a complex process, so it is vital that your legal counsel or notary arranges your estate and completes your Will in a manner that best carries out your plans and wishes.  As well, the World Parrot Trust cannot act as executor of a donor's estate.

Any changes or alterations should be addressed with an attorney, as estate laws will vary by region. For gifts that will take effect after your lifetime, the World Parrot Trust should be named as:

In the US
The World Parrot Trust USA Inc., a non-profit corporation with principal business address at PO Box 985, 400 S. Main St., Travelers Rest, SC 29690. Registered 501(c)(3) charity. Federal EIN#62-1561595

In Canada
The Canadian World Parrot Trust, a non-profit corporation with principal business address at PO Box 41104 RPO Winfield S, Lake Country BC V4V 1Z7. BN#89004-1171-RR0001

In the UK/Rest of the World
The World Parrot Trust, a non-profit corporation with principal business address at Glanmor House, Hayle, Cornwall, TR27 4HB United Kingdom. Charitable tax number: 800944

Use of Gifts

Leaving your bequest unrestricted has the benefit of allowing the Trust to direct funds where they are most needed. However, if you wish to allocate your gift towards the conservation efforts for a particular parrot species or to a specific project please add the following phrase to the wording recommended above:

"To be used to further the purposes of the World Parrot Trust in the conservation efforts for:____".

In addition, the following is suggested wording from our UK office which has been used in the estate planning of supporters there.

"I give and bequeath unto the Trustees of the World Parrot Trust [fill in the address] the sum of $_____ [or a _____ share in the residue of my estate] for the general purposes of the World Parrot Trust and declare that the receipt of the Administrator or other proper officer of the World Parrot Trust shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees."

If you complete your Will and include the World Parrot Trust in your wishes please share this with us, so we can acknowledge your invaluable support.  It will aid us in our planning efforts and ensure that your funds are utilized according to your wishes. We also feel strongly about expressing our gratitude to those supporters who have remembered the Trust in such a generous way.

For more information on this subject, please contact our Development Team or the regional office nearest you.
